Inspiration

Wed Nov 9, 2005, 5:44 PM
I’ve been trying to seek out movies to inspire me, that make me want to paint. I’ve started a list of movies/DVDs that have helped, but I would welcome more suggestions.

The Mystery of Picasso is an excellent film. You observe the creative process without the distraction of the artist’s ego.
The PBS series called Art In The Twenty-First Century, it focuses exclusively on contemporary visual art
Artist Of The 20th Century is also a very good series. I recommend, Joan Miro, Paul Klee, Henri Matisse, and many more
Frida, the brilliant use of colors and the imagery of her paintings make me want to paint.
How To Draw A Bunny, a movie about Ray Johnson, a man who was driven by
art.
Rivers and Tides, a great documentary on the artist Andy Goldsworthy
Dreams Of Light, also a great documentary, one man’s desire to capture a moment in time.

Your work reminds me a bit of some of Francis Picabia's stuff -- I think the ethereal quality of the faces. It's really beautiful!
